Project AIHR, an autonomous project exploring the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights under the ambit of the Jindal Society for International Law.

 

About Project AIHR 

The project on artificial intelligence and human rights aims to facilitate research, leadership, and student curiosity in the field and to emerge at the forefront for spearheading student involvement in regulation. The focus of the project will be to contribute and lead the ongoing debate on the emerging gaps in the legal framework. With the idea of initiating information dissemination through webinars, it will lead the student cohort into innovative, inventive discussions surrounding the legal, ethical, philosophical complexities that surround the ever-increasing intersection of artificial intelligence and society. The Project shall offer a host of experiences that shall contribute towards networking initiatives and increasing the knowledge available to the members. Further, it shall work towards capacity building in the varied specializations within artificial intelligence and human rights discourse and inspire students of JGU to contribute to the field collectively and effectively.

 

About the Lecture

The second lecture of our Fall 2021 series is on ‘Will AI bury Human Rights?’ by Rowena Rodrigues. Rowena Rodrigues, Ph.D, is Senior Research Manager at Trilateral Research Ltd. and works on policy, ethical and legal issues of new and emerging technologies. Her areas of expertise include regulation of new and emerging technologies, comparative legal analysis, ethics of new and emerging technologies (e.g., AI, robotics), privacy and data protection, security, ethical impact assessment, responsible research & innovation. She works on the EU-funded Horizon 2020 TECHETHOS project and was deputy coordinator of SIENNA project (2017-2021) that, inter alia, asssesed the impacts of AI and robotics and developed ethical guidelines and legal recommendations. Rowena has published book chapters in Policy Press, Routledge, Springer and articles in journals such as the Computer Law & Security Review, Innovation:The European Journal of Social Science Research, International Data Privacy Law, International Review of Law, Computers and Technology, Journal of Contingencies and Crisis Management, Journal of Contemporary European Research , Big Data & Society, and Science and Engineering Ethics. She is co-editor of Privacy and Data Protection Seals (TMC Asser/Springer 2018). She has a Ph.D. in law from the University of Edinburgh.
